Terry Lanier Lovette

Mr. Terry Lanier Lovette, age 73, passed away on Monday afternoon, July 6, 2026 at Lillian Carter Health Center in Plains.

Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. John Walker officiating.  Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at 5:00 PM in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. The family asks that attendees dress casually and comfortably.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, between the hours of 5:00 & 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.

Born April 5, 1953 in Fitzgerald, he was the son of the late Randall Lanier Lovette and the late Christine Adams Lovette. Baptist by faith, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cordele. He was a member of MB Council Lodge No. 13, Free & Accepted Masons, and attended regularly as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Terry was retired after 40 years as a Registered Nurse and after serving 30 years as a paramedic. He had worked as an EMT in the 1970's and was proud of his badge number 531, one of the earliest registered. He formerly served as a Sumter County deputy coroner with Coroner Mike Faircloth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Coy Glenn.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Barbaree Lovette; two sons: Jason Lovette and Jeremy Lovette (Jenna); grandchildren: Kaleb, Taylor and Lexi; and several nieces and nephews.
