Teofilo Soto-Sanchez

Teofilo Soto-Sanchez, age 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on January 27, 1967, he was the cherished son of the late Eustaquio Soto Castillo and the late Petra Sánchez Cardona.

A devoted and faithful member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Americus, Georgia. Teofilo lived a life rooted in faith, love, and hard work. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, and proud grandfather who provided for his family through every trial and challenge with unwavering strength and humility.

Teofilo found joy in the simple things—being surrounded by family and friends, attending church, and working with purpose. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whose presence filled his heart with happiness and pride.

Teofilo is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Raphaela Garcia; his children: Victor Arizmendi (Guadalupe Arizmendi), Julie Soto-Gutierrez (Abisai Gutierrez), Mayra Soto, Erika Soto, and Marco Soto; and his grandchildren: Melanie Arizmendi, Marley Arizmendi, Abisai Gutierrez Jr., and Asael Gutierrez.

He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Martha Soto Sánchez, María de Jesús Soto Sánchez, Leonardo Soto Sánchez, Julieta Soto Sánchez, Petra Soto Sánchez, Clemente Soto Sánchez, and Margarita Soto Sánchez, along with a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many dear friends.

Teofilo’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he finally rest in peace.

A rosary is planned for Wednesday evening, April 23, between the hours of 6:30 and 8:30 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Sam Aniekwe officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Teofilo Soto-Sánchez, de 58 años, falleció en paz el sábado 19 de Abril de 2025, rodeado del amor de su querida familia. Nació el 27 de Enero de 1967 y fue el amado hijo de los fallecidos Eustaquio Soto Castillo y Petra Sánchez Cardona.

Fue un miembro devoto y fiel de la Iglesia Católica Saint Mary’s en Americus, Georgia. Teofilo vivió una vida arraigada en la fe, el amor y el trabajo arduo. Fue un esposo amoroso, un padre dedicado y un orgulloso abuelo que proveyó para su familia en cada prueba y desafío con una fortaleza y humildad inquebrantables.

Teofilo encontraba alegría en las cosas simples: estar rodeado de su familia y amigos, asistir a la iglesia y trabajar con propósito. Pero su mayor felicidad venía de pasar tiempo con sus nietos, cuya presencia llenaba su corazón de orgullo y alegría.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Maria Raphaela Garcia; sus hijos: Victor Arizmendi (Guadalupe Arizmendi), Julie Soto-Gutierrez (Abisai Gutierrez), Mayra Soto, Erika Soto y Marco Soto; y sus nietos: Melanie Arizmendi, Marley Arizmendi, Abisai Gutierrez Jr. y Asael Gutierrez.

También lo recuerdan con cariño sus hermanos: Martha Soto Sánchez, María de Jesús Soto Sánchez, Leonardo Soto Sánchez, Julieta Soto Sánchez, Petra Soto Sánchez, Clemente Soto Sánchez y Margarita Soto Sánchez, junto con muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, cuñados, cuñadas y queridos amigos.

El legado de Teofilo es uno de amor, perseverancia y devoción. Será profundamente extrañado por todos quienes lo conocieron y amaron. Que descanse en paz.
