Sherry Cross Kelly

November 24, 1958 — December 26, 2025

Sherry Cross Kelly, age 67, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.  Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Monday, December 29, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Earl Dunmon officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home, beginning at 12:00 noon.

Sherry was born in Americus on November 24, 1958, while her parents, Waymon and Frances Cross were attending Georgia Southwestern College. Her family moved about Georgia and Florida, settling in Hopeful, Georgia. She attended Georgia Southwestern College where she met her husband of 45 1/2 years, Robert A. Kelly, Jr. "Chappy" in the Fall of 1978. They were married on July 4, 1980.  Sherry graduated in 1980 from Georgia Southwestern College with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She went on to be an adoption counselor before home schooling her three boys and a grandson, as well as being a tutor for countless others in all subjects, from teaching young children to read (which was her favorite) through high school algebra and geometry. She was an Air Force Auxiliary member, serving in CAP as a First Lieutenant at SER GA 158 Americus Flight. A member of Christian Fellowship Church, Sherry served her Church and her Lord Jesus Christ by teaching countless Sunday School classes, women's groups, and was Church secretary for years. Most of all, she loved and supported her family and friends with all her heart!

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Kelly, Jr. "Chappy"; three sons: Robert Kelly, III, Craig Kelly, and Glen Kelly; grandchildren: Adam Kelly, Rebekah Kelly, Rachel Kelly, Josiah Kelly, and Robert Kelly, IV; sister, Cathryn Griffin; and her special furry friend, Scout.

For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners' Hospitals for Children, Wounded Warrior Project, or Samaritan's Purse.
