Mary Sue Storey, age 71, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
Funeral services are planned for 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ellaville with Rev. Bryan Bentley officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church beginning at 11:00 AM. Please dress casually and comfortably.
A private family committal service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the funeral home to apply toward funeral expenses.
Born April 27, 1954 in Americus, she was a daughter of the late Walter Storey and the late Geneva Hart Storey. She was employed in the manufacturing industry, having worked building Power Wheels Cars and at Williams Furniture Company. She loved the Lord and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Ellaville. Her hobbies included reading and fishing. Mary had a green thumb, enjoying gardening and cultivating pepper plants. She was known for her pepper chow-chow, for giving gifts of homemade jelly and pickles, and for her love of Mountain Dew. Never meeting a stranger, she was a helper to everyone she knew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Michelle Holmes; and brothers and sisters: Lillie Faye Heath, Betty Lou Papp, Gloria Ann Harden, Robert Lee Storey, Sr., Henry Lee Storey, and Walter Franklin Storey.
Survivors include her children: Nicholas Lee Cochran, Buddy Dyar Cochran, Jr., Crystal June McKinsey (Mark), Donald Keith VanSickle, Jr., and William Matthew VanSickle; adopted children: Daniel Blake Cochran, Thomas Warren Capps, III, Anthony Thomas Capps, and Renea Hart; grandchildren: Megan Page, Brandon Bullard, Kodey Cochran, Nicholas Cochran, Jr., Tyler Alexis Beck, Mark McKinsey, Jr., Michael Smith, Jr., Jackson McKinsey, Emily McKinsey, Carson McKinsey, Gracie McKinsey, Asher Stanley VanSickle, Nathan McDaniel, Brantley VanSickle, Breanna McDaniel, John VanSickle, Jazmin VanSickle, and Gabriella McDaniel; great-grandchildren: Kylee Klausen, Elijah Zimmerman, Kyra Kirkwood, Egypt Kirkwood, Daisy Ouilette, Kacie Tatum McWilliams, Isaac McKinsey, and a great-grandson-soon-to-be; brother Richard Wayne Storey; sister Donna Kay Storey; and her fur babies Tiny and Ladybug. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
