Gregory Scott

Gregory Brent Scott, Sr., age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

Born October 10, 1957 in Americus, he was a son of the late Bobby E. Scott and the late Annette Downs Scott. He was of the Baptist faith and was a truck driver, having driven for J.B. Hunt Transport Services.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pete E. Scott.

Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Angie & Jason McGrother of Americus; son & daughter-in-law, Greg & Michelle Scott of Guyton; brother, Tyre D. Scott of Macon; grandchildren: Bridgett Cox of Americus, Dalton McGrother of Americus, Landon McGrother of Leesburg, Gabby Mattair of Cobb, Georgia Scott of Guyton, and Luke Scott of Guyton; great-grandson, Jaxon Smarr; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6, from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Wendy Peacock officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning, beginning at 10:00 AM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.
