Dr. Charles Alan Parks, 72, passed away Thursday, July 30, at his home in Americus, GA.
Born on April 22, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of the late Charles Kenneth Parks and Phyllis Grimes Parks.
After graduating from Terry Parker High School, Dr. Parks earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. He continued his education at Valdosta State University, where he received both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration before completing his Doctor of Business Administration at Argosy University.
Dr. Parks devoted his professional life to higher education, serving as Vice President for Business and Finance at Georgia Southwestern State University. In recognition of his years of service and dedication to the university, he was awarded the Georgia Southwestern Presidential Medallion for Outstanding Service.
Outside of his career, Dr. Parks had a passion for music. An extremely talented guitarist, he played with several bands over the years and also shared his talent by playing at his church.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sheila Parks; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ray Dzikowski.
As per his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
