Betty Dean McMillon McChargue

Betty Dean McMillon McChargue, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

Born on November 11,1935 in Taylor County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel McMillon and Lillian Daisy Lawhorn McMillon. Mrs. McChargue served as supervisor of registration at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and precious great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Harris of Ellaville, Georgia, Debra Terrell (John), of New Hope, Alabama, Beverly Stockdale (Kelly), of Louisville, Kentucky, and Barbara McChargue, of Louisville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hoffman, Jason Harris (Lisa), Matt Terrell, Dallas Stockdale (Morghanne), Shelby Duff (Steven), and Taylor Howell; her great-grandchildren, Storm Hoffman, Jaxon Harris, Axel Harris, Ellie Burba, Houston Duff, and Delaney Duff; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hansel McChargue; her daughter, Emily Susan McChargue; her brother, John Bernard McMillon; her sisters, Wayrer Jeanette McMillon Young, and Mary Evelyn McChargue; and her son-in-law, John Harris.

A memorial service for Mrs. McChargue will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee Street, beginning at 2:00PM, with Dennis McChargue officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to cancer research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
