Barbara Ann Mitchell

Barbara Ann Mitchell, 95, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at her home in Leslie, Georgia.

Born on October 27, 1929 in Leslie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John and Callie Harvey. Mrs. Mitchell began working as a teacher for the Sumter County School system in 1968 until 1992 when she retired. She was a member of the Sumter County Retired Teachers Organization, as well as a member of the Leslie Garden Club. She grew up in the United Methodist faith and was a longtime member of Leslie Community Church.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her son, Bobby B. Mitchell; her daughter, Melanie Mitchell Stearns (Randy); three grandchildren, William Mitchell Stearns (CoCo), Melissa Ann Stears, and Lyndsey Stearns Klein (Ian).

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby B. Mitchell; her sister, Carolyn Louise Harvey Kaylor (Frank); and her niece, Nancy Kaylor Miller (Bobby).

The family will be receiving friends for a visitation at Leslie Community Church on Saturday, May 24, between the hours of 9:30AM and 11:00AM, with the funeral service following promptly at 11:00AM. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery following the service.
