Barbara Stevens Gosa

Barbara Stevens Gosa, 81, passed away Friday, March 13, in Americus, Georgia.

Born on November 23, 1944, in Oneida, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ulmer and Beverly Stevens. Mrs. Gosa worked for many years as a ParaPro and a Librarian at the Cherokee School. She was affectionately known as "Ooma" and known as "Bride" by most. She loved to be outside, loved her animals, and loved riding her bicycle every week with Gayle Price.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Gosa; her sons, Jeff Gordon (Beth), Joey Gordon (Laurie), and William Shane Gosa; her brother Jared Stevens (Kathy); her grandchildren, Steven Gordon, Will Gordon (Tiffany), Justin Gordon (Kristen), Josiah Gordon, Philip Gordon, and Caleb Gordon (Ceceila); her great-grandchildren, Braxton Gordon, Perralynn Gordon, Hudson Gordon, Lexi Gordon, Haylee Gordon; her furbabies, Baby Girl, Buck, Kitty, Tom, Cali, Wally, and Kevin; her special friends, Linda Ferguson, Erin White, Becca White, and Dorsey McMath; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Eastside Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 18, at 4:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow beginning at 5:00 PM. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon International, Sumter County Camp or Sumter Humane Society.
