Mrs. Ann Johnson, age 84, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Willson Hospice House in Albany. There will be no formal service or visitation at this time. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. The family will receive friends at their home in Americus.
Ann was born April 25, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a daughter of the late Bob Knowles and Elizabeth "Tibby" Knowles. Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Farrah Castleberry and her son-in-law, Matt Castleberry, as well as her brothers Phil Knowles and Robert Knowles. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, B.T. Johnson, her daughter, Hunter Jones (Michael Jones) and their son Knowlen Jones, her grandson, Preskitt Castleberry, her sisters Susan Morrison and Nancy Vickers, her sisters-in-law Nita Knowles and Sandra Knowles, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Ann was Methodist by faith and was a member of First Methodist Church of Americus. She was crowned Miss Sumter County in 1960 and went on to participate in the Miss Georgia Pageant. Ann was a dance teacher and owned her own dance school, Johnson School of Dance, for many years, and later graduated from Darton College with her Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene and pursued a second career as a Dental Hygienist. After her retirement from working as a hygienist with Dr. Louis A. Riccardi, she enjoyed working in her yard, going to the beach, being with her friends, and always encouraging her two grandsons in everything they did.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709, or Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, GA 31719, or a charity of choice.
